St. Peter’s offers numerous ways to learn, grow in faith, and make a real difference in the lives of others. Here’s how you can get involved.
Be the friendly face that welcomes visitors, invite them to sign the guest book, guide them to various church facilities, and help them feel part of the St. Peter's family.
Help create an accessible and meaningful worship experience for everyone — lighting candles, distributing hymnals and bulletins, and guiding the congregation during services.
Share your faith and inspire others through your words and actions during services. Read scriptures, lead liturgy, offer prayers, and assist with Holy Communion.
Foster fellowship and connection by preparing refreshments and creating a space for conversation after services. All levels of barista skills are welcome!
Express your creativity and devotion by contributing to the beauty and reverence of our worship space. You can help maintain altar linens, prepare for communion, and create special displays for Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
“Artists and creators are evangelists who act keenly in the path of beauty and unveil it to the world” (Jared Zimmerer).
Whether music, visual art, poetry, theatre, spoken word, or anything in between, St. Peter’s holds space for art as it engages ancient practice and incubates new trajectories. Art, at its best, is simply storytelling.
Music at St. Peter’s draws on a rich Lutheran heritage while offering inclusive worship and programming that reflects the rich diversity of all of God’s people. Through worship, concerts, and artistic programming, we invite you to lose yourself in wonder, beauty, and the presence of God.
The choir and choral scholars, who each week help bring liturgy, song, and ritual to vivid life, are directed by St. Peter’s Music Director Vlad Soloviev. This volunteer ensemble sings a diverse repertoire, from classical to gospel during our weekly worship services from September through June. Rehearsals are held on Sundays at 9 am in the choir room, and no experience is necessary. Should you wish to join the choir, or use your artistic gifts, please don’t hesitate to reach out though the church office.
Children are precious to us! During the Sunday service, children from grades K to 6 are invited to join our leaders who present God's word in fun and innovative ways. We’re always happy to have new leaders who want to interact with children and help them learn how Jesus is present in our lives today.
With accessibility top of mind, our dedicated technical production team enhance worship and events through recording, livestreaming, and running on-site technology. Various team members help run sound, lights, video production, and more. If you have experience or would like to get involved with this ministry, please ask or reach out though the church office.
A small team to ensure our church building, including the Sanctuary and meeting spaces, are well-maintained and in good condition. No carpentry skills required, just a good eye and attention to detail!
At St. Peter's, we believe in putting our faith into action! We actively support our community through a variety of initiatives such as providing food vouchers, baking for A Better Tent City, supporting school nutrition programs and distributing new clothing, linens, etc. for those in need.
We also partner with our wider church family to make a difference regionally, nationally, and internationally through ministries like Canadian Lutheran World Relief (CLWR), Martin Luther University College and Feather and Cross.
Just because you don’t see it listed here doesn’t mean we can’t create a new opportunity within St. Peter’s and/or the community. Let us know what you’re passionate about and where you see a need.
At St. Peter’s we are dedicated to faithfully following our calling, innovating and evolving to meet the needs of our community, and providing a welcoming place for everyone. Join us as we strive to make a meaningful impact in Kitchener and Waterloo Region — we would be delighted to accept your time and talents!
The St. Peter’s Community’s physical church is located in the Haldimand Tract (1784). We are learning to be Treaty People through relationships with our Haudenosaunee, Attawandaron and Anishinaabe neighbours. Our ability to be working and living here now comes as a direct benefit of policies of expulsion and assimilation of Indigenous peoples during the time of settlement, Confederation, and since. The harms of these policies are many and are still being felt in Indigenous communities today. -Adapted from the Eastern Synod
